Without question, Bollywood produces some fantastic stories and films. But what makes the movie even realistic is the makeup skills and transformation of the actors. They are sometimes unrecognizable with the unique makeover transformation.

There have been films in which the actor had to sit patiently through the full makeup process, most often every day before a shot. It took them hours to complete the entire process. The level of commitment is mind-boggling. The prosthetic makeup completely changes the look of the actors. Sometimes they are completely unrecognizable. Here are some of the most unique makeover transformations in Bollywood:

Amitabh Bachchan played the role of Auro or Paa in the movie Paa. A child who has progeria, a life-threatening condition. Christien Tinsley (of The Passion of the Christ fame) and Dominie Till were among the makeup artists on the set (of The Lord of the Rings fame). The makeup look was challenging to achieve but they managed it brilliantly. The film was nominated for a National Film Award for its make-up work (2009).

 

2. Rishi Kapoor – Kapoor & Sons

In this film, Rishi Kapoor played a 90-year-old grandfather. He played old man and managed like excellent wine. The main goal was to make him appear older than he was. Here, Greg Cannom worked as a makeup artist. The make-up was flawless.

While SRK is no new to playing ‘obsessive’ roles, his artistic change was due to Greg Cannom, who worked on Rishi Kapoor’s appearance in Kapoor & Sons.

 

5. Akshay Kumar – 2.0

Akshay Kumar plays the role of an ornithologist in the movie 2.0. In the movie, he was seen as a birdman. It’s not easy to turn a human into a birdman with the help of makeup. However, Legacy Effects, the film’s makeup company, accomplished it with ease.

6. Kamal Hassan – Hindustani

In this film, Kamal played two roles. So, obviously, the makeup had to be flawless. He had to transform into an 80-year-old for roles in the film. Hindustani was released in 1996. Michael Westmore and Michael Jones, both makeup artists, worked on their looks. It was well worth it since Kamal went on to win the National Award for the film.

7. Hrithik Roshan – Dhoom 2

Hrithik Roshan was cast in the character of an international thief in Dhoom 2. Which, of course, had a lot to do with makeup. He became a thief, an elderly security guard, an elderly lady, and a dwarf. Sjaan Gillings demonstrated the brilliance of this makeup by nailing each and every one of the looks.

Rajkummar Rao played the role of a 324-year-old tribal man in Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer Raabta. He was unrecognizable. Though the movie did not perform as well as expected on the big screen. But, Rajkummar Rao’s unique makeup transformation stunned the audience. A cosmetics company from Los Angeles worked on it, and he was completely unrecognizable as a result.

 

9. Kamal Hassan – Chachi 420

Mrs. Doubtfire, a Hollywood film, served as inspiration for the picture. Kamal Haasan was impersonated as a 75 year-old-lady in the movie Chachi 420. Michael Westmore, who earned an academy award for his cosmetics work, did an outstanding job.

We can already see how similar Lara Dutta appears to Indira Gandhi in the trailer of Bell Bottom. Lara commended her makeup artist for their amazing job and inventiveness in a tweet. The film has not yet been released, but it is on the list. However, the photographs we saw on social media had already made us aware of the extensive makeup talents required. Maddy is reincarnated as a 77-year-old scientist. And, given Maddy’s youthful appearance, he’d require a lot of cosmetics.
